Weather: ☀️sunny with blue skies - it got a little windier in the evening- but we were by the beach - so you expect a little wind 💨
From: 3 miles before Loch Maddy
Start time: 5.45am - to avoid the bugs!
To: just before Sgarasta Mhòr
End time: 7.30pm
Accommodation: 🏕wild camped close to the beach 👉stunning views of the water.
Terrain: 50% road / 50% bog

🥾Miles: 19.3
🦶Steps: 39,941

💰Costs: £7.90 chicken burger & chips
⛴ Ferry £3.90
🍽 Food resupply- £13.67 - crisps, Hummus, turkey, toilet roll, Ribena, jelly, tomato, apple, banana, blueberries.

Subjective feeling out of 10 on:

Enjoyment: 6/10 - it was amazing walking down the road in the morning and watching the sun come up. (I’m not sure the photo does it justice!)

We also made incredible time and made it to the ferry with 30 minutes to spare. We got all our electronics charged while we’re on the boat.

Fatigue: 5/10 Felt stronger today.

Ease of terrain: 6/10 there were some quite good paths on a few of the bogs which made for quite easy walking.

👉However some sections felt like they were never ending

Highlights - The end of the day was incredible. We walked over a long stretch of moor which took us to the west coast of the island.

Just as we started the descent down to the road. The sun came out from behind the clouds. Which highlighted white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. We headed down to the beach where we found the most perfect wild camping spot. 🏕

Plus with the wind blowing there were no bugs in the air. A total win 🏆

Adelaide managed to use her jet boil and we sat and had dinner & hot chocolate while taking in the scenery. It was a stunning way to end the day.🥳

Challenges - The first section of moor we went over - felt never ending 👉 bog walking, bog walking, bog walking. 🧠It involves a lot of concentration when there isn’t a clear path to follow and you have to make your own way. It can be mentally draining.

💧🦶walking with wet feet is never pleasant. Although you do eventually get used to it.
