In these last couple of months, the markets have been rift with corrections. Know why you should stay invested in your ULIP fund options in these volatile times with investments insights from Sampath Reddy, Chief Investment Officer of Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance.
We witnessed a lot of corrections in both equity and debt markets these last couple of months. It can be attributed to both local and global issues. Let us look at these reasons in detail:
Global markets have been affected by the strong growth of the US Dollar. The United States of America has been tightening its monetary policy. The strong economic growth of the US markets has led to the US Federal Open Market Committee raising the interest rates 3 times in the last calendar year. As their economic growth continues, these rates are likely to grow up. It has resulted in capital flowing back to the States. The rise in crude prices, where a barrel crossed the $80 mark, has significantly weakened the Indian Rupee. This has adversely affected the current deficit, increased inflation and diminished the profit margins of local industries in India.
Speaking of local markets, we have witnessed a credit squeeze due to the default of a particularly large infrastructure development and finance company. Interest rates have risen in short-term securities such as commercial paper, which has negatively impacted many non-banking financial companies. The NBFCs which dealt mainly in the housing finance sector have been affected the worst.
These troubling times are mostly behind us now. The time for market-corrections is nearing its end. The industry is being closely monitored by the government and regulatory bodies. Long-term market stability is now on the horizon.
As an investor, what does all of this mean for you? As the markets have bottomed out, now might be a good time to get into equities. Fund options offered by Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, such as the Equity Growth Fund II and the Accelerator Mid Cap Fund II are great options for anyone looking to dramatically increase their returns. Investors who are apprehensive about investing in such riskier equities can look into the Asset Allocation Fund II. It is a balanced fund option, managed by experienced fund managers who study market trends and invest in securities which are most likely to maximize your returns.
For risk-averse investors, there's always the Bond Fund, which provides fixed income securities.
