MONEY WAS MEANT TO BACK YOU UP! MONEY WAS CREATED TO SUPPORT YOU.
In this little section of an interview with my friend and former client, Harriet, I was asked:
"How do we reconcile anti-capitalist beliefs with our desire to make money?"
Here is the thing: You being broke doesn't help more people.
Your struggle does not allow more people to thrive.
It just makes you a less resourced person in a world that needs more powerful, empowered women with the funds to back them up. (Money was created to support you.)
Some people with money are jerks. Some people don’t use money fairly, don’t pay their people well, and take advantage of the disproportionately given loopholes available to them.
And learning of systemic and pervasive injustices happening the world will require you to deepen your belief system -- and will likely inform how you use your voice and your money.
That does not mean money is bad. That means unconscious people use it unconsciously. And there is an opportunity for people like us to use money well -- to support ourselves and those we feel desire to in generous and helpful ways.
When it comes to money, we often have an identity issue.
I have identified myself as both rich and poor.
I have viewed money as both a very problematic and a super helpful thing.
My actions, beliefs, thoughts and expectations supported and reinforced each idea.
How we view ourselves and what we believe we can have greatly effects what we ask for, go after, and create in our lives.
It’s time you change how you see yourself. And how you see the financial resources you desire.
If you believe money is bad, or that people with money are bad, you won’t create a life where you have money.
Which is okay if that is what you desire, but it certainly not the only reality available.
