Today we have a look at the starch granules from a banana. I show you the preparation technique and the iodine reaction. I will also talk about why plants use starch for storing glucose.
Correction: In the video I stated that pure glucose can "rarely" be found in nature. This is not accurate. Glucose (and other sugars such as fructose) can be found in fruit, after all, these make the fruit taste sweet. The majority of glucose can be found in plants in starch and also in the cell wall in the form of cellulose.
