Since a while I was suspecting some vacuum leaks on my BMW 320i with an M54 engine. I did a diagnose but there were no faulty codes at all. May be because the leaks were too small so they are not causing the troubleshoot codes to popup.
But anyway, I decided, without a previous check with a smoke test or whatever, to change the hoses on some of the vacuum lines:
- The vacuum line of the fuel pressure regulator
- The Vacuum line of the secondary air valve
- The vacuum line of the vacuum control valve behind the intake manifold.
For this purpose I draw a sketch to highlight the main vacuum lines on a M54 engine. To make my life easier while commenting this video I'm using colors to tag the hoses that I'm working on.
I was about removing the intake manifold to refresh the lines but I decided to give it a shot and try to remove the control valve without removing the intake manifold.
The operation ended successfully and saved a lot of time.
