This is how my friend's easy and delicious American Chop Suey (or Goulash or Johnny Marzetti) is made. This dish is hearty, inexpensive and feeds a crowd. A perfect party and potluck dish. American Chop Suey (or Goulash or Johnny Marzetti)

1 lb. ground Chuck
2 tbs cooking oil
2 medium yellow onions
3 medium to large green bell peppers
1/4 cup of filtered water
2 1/2 (14.75oz) cans of whole peeled tomatoes
1 tbs Italian seasoning
2 tbs onion powder or 1 tbs onion salt

2/3 lb. elbow macaroni
Water
3 tbs salt
Grated Parmesan cheese and cilantro, parsley or basil to garnish.
