In this episode of Norton Live, Application Engineer Paul Gray and Senior Product Manager Robin Cook walk step-by-step through how to achieve a No.4 surface finish on Stainless Steel using the Norton Abrasives Rapid Prep range of belts.
So what is a No.4 Finish?
Commonly known as a "brushed finish", a No.4 finish is one of the most common found in the Stainless Steel industry today. This low gloss finish is directional, allowing easy matching between surfaces and weld re-finishing. It's also one of the easiest finishes to maintain, and often used where lower reflectivity or gloss is required (such as handrails and work surfaces).
