Posting this in recognition of those seeking peace in the face of ongoing war. "Keysar Trad, father of nine and oft-quoted assistant to the always interesting sheik Taj el-Din al Hilaly, made his debut on the Sydney rock scene last weekend and in the record shops this week. But don't go hoping that he'll be the next Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens). So far, he's keeping to the spoken word and leaving the melody making to a local band, Andorra. The bluesy tune Keysar Trad Jazz had its first public performance at the Sydney Festival for Peace, in Leichhardt, on Saturday. Trad's 30 second contribution goes: "As a Muslim, I see that our future together in this world must be built on co-operation. It must be built on mutual respect. It must be built on consulting with one another in relation to decisions that affect us all. We must look at our common humanity and respect that within each other. We must embrace our common humanity, and we must look at each other -- as allies and friends -- that we can co-operate to make this world a much better place."
