At Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust we have been pioneering new ways of carrying out ACL Reconstruction surgery. The approach to Anatomical ACL Reconstruction we use most is outlined in this video.
We have called this the TRANSLATERAL TECHNIQUE.
The normal ACL has quite a large attachment area or footprint on the side of the thigh bone. This technique allows the surgeon to reliably identify the anatomy and place the new ligament in a more precise and anatomic location.
