George Bush Intercontinental Airport, often referred to as Houston Airport or IAH, is one of the major international airports serving Houston, Texas, United States. It is located approximately 23 miles (37 kilometers) north of downtown Houston, and it covers a vast area of 10,000 acres (40 square kilometers).
IAH is the second busiest airport in Texas and the 15th busiest in the United States in terms of passenger traffic. The airport has five passenger terminals (A, B, C, D, and E) and offers nonstop flights to over 170 destinations worldwide, with 26 airlines operating from the airport.
United Airlines has a significant presence at IAH, using it as one of its major hubs. Additionally, Houston Intercontinental Airport serves as a focus city for Spirit Airlines.
The airport is named after George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States. In addition to its role as a passenger hub, the airport also handles cargo operations and is an important economic engine for the Houston metropolitan area.
