Many people have heard of the famous Pastéis de Nata. The recipe for the original pastéis - the "Pastéis de Belém" – has been kept a secret for more than 185 years. Created in the Belém district of Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, its current guardians are the three pastry chefs of the Pastéis de Belém bakery. Around 20,000 are baked there daily. People from throughout Portugal and even the world come here to enjoy these delicious, and truly original delicacies.
