This season there was a darker more poignant storyline that revealed itself through Alessandro Michele's pop culture references. There were references to Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Birdbox, Friday the Thirteenth and even Stranger Things. The designer seems to be telling us to open our eyes, to participate, and be prepared for the reality we are currently facing.
