Fishing Cat : The Cat That Hunts Underwater | Stori
Did you know that the fishing cat of Southeast Asia is an excellent swimmer and is highly skilled at catching fish? While we often associate cats with a dislike for water, this is not the case for some cat species. The fishing cat, in particular, has a strong affinity for water and is well adapted to catching aquatic prey. It possesses partial webbing between its toes, and its claws do not fully retract, enabling it to grasp slippery prey underwater. Sometimes they even launch themselves headfirst into the deeper water when fish swim by farther from the shore. They eat a lot of fish this way but they also eat rodents, birds, snakes, lizards, frogs, clams, snails, and insects.
