STORYLINE:
A suicide bomber blew himself up next to a NATO convoy in Kabul on Monday, wounding three soldiers and three civilians, officials said.
The bomber was on foot and jumped in front of a NATO military convoy in eastern Kabul, said Ali Shah Paktiawal, a senior police official. a senior police official.
"A suicide bomber who blew up himself wounded three civilians who were passing by this road. The suicide bomber attacked an ISAF International Security Assistance Force convoy while they were passing by this road," Paktiawal added.
A witness said he saw an American four wheel drive entering the city and a man who was standing next to a pump station suddenly running toward the vehicle and detonating himself.
Three NATO-led troops received minor injuries and were evacuated to a nearby military hospital, a NATO-led force spokesman said.
He would not disclose the nationalities of the soldiers injured.
Three other civilians were injured, Paktiawal said.
The attack occurred on the road frequently used by troops in the capital and the body of the bomber lay alongside two unexploded hand-grenades, an Associated Press reporter at the scene said.
