To ensure high-quality welds, arc control and DIG range parameters are critical. Learn how to achieve the optimal settings for pipeline welding.
Arc control parameters determine the responsiveness of the arc, while DIG range parameters adjust the drive and penetration of the arc. Arc control is located on the front panel of select Miller® engine-driven welders and comes set in the middle between stiff 25 and soft 25. Stiff 25 provides the fastest arc response time while soft 25 provides a slower response time. DIG control can be found in the hidden menu and comes set at 100. DIG should be set based on pipe thickness, the electrode being used, and personal preference.
