When I first saw this book cover
My breath sort of stopped for a quick second.
It looked like a Holy Communion host to me. The cover and title appealed to me in a unique way.
Everyone has the gift of interpreting a story in their own special way— here’s mine.
I wondered if any other Catholic Christians, or children would agree about the art of the moon resembling the Body of Christ? This made me smile inside.
The entire story was read through a new lens for me. All creatures want to be close to God, and these lovely animals want to reach the moon and taste it. I viewed this story as Creation longing to be near, touch, and even consume Our beautiful Creator of the universe— God.
I’m putting a deeper meaning into this than maybe the author originally intended, but it seems so adoringly obvious to me.
The story is described as whimsical by some, but I’m boldly stating this story is more about the built-in desire of every living creature to honor and praise God— even taste Him!
