“This would be an outrage of historic proportions.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday to respond to reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is considering to issue arrest warrants for senior Israeli government and military officials. Netanyahu voiced his outrage and added that “no ICC action” would “impact Israel’s ironclad determination” to achieve its goals with the war on Gaza. He also called for leaders of other countries to “stand with Israel” in the face of the possible arrest warrants.
News website Axios reported on Monday that various US lawmakers from both parties have already begun working on retaliatory bills in case the ICC proceeds with the arrest warrants, including a bill to sanction ICC officials. US House Speaker Mike Johnson said that the ICC “would directly undermine US national security interests” if it took action to issue the warrants.
