The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Though the location of the gardens has never been officially established, they are described in ancient texts as a series of tiered gardens containing a wide variety of beautiful plants, and a large green mountain.The commonly-held belief among scholars is that the gardens were designed by Neo-Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar II, but when Dr. Stephanie Dalley, one of only a handful of experts on ancient cuneiform texts, deciphers the text on an octagonal Babylonian prism, she suggests that the gardens were built by an Assyrian king --Sennacherib-- who lived a hundred years before Nebuchadnezzar II.
