I'm very pleased to tell you that my channel is now a founder member of the BrickTubers Network, a small group of select LEGO YouTube channels dedicated to sharing their love for the brick toy.
I would like to tell you a little about each one in turn by relating them to different Micropolis blocks that I have built.
Vickie from Brick After Brick Toys has a channel which is full of fun and a great place to hang out, just like the Blue Lagoon Resort shown here. Her enthusiasm for set reviews and sharing LEGO Love is second only to her enjoyment of LEGO Rain, one of the trademarks of her channel. Watching her videos is guaranteed to raise a smile.
Jakob from the Brick Bakery showcases building older LEGO sets from his childhood, and has just started making a new LEGO city for himself called Bakersville.
His live streams are a lot of fun, and he is also very community-minded, always giving excellent feedback and suggestions. After seeing the first model I made for Cascades Cross, he suggested I make some different coloured versions which worked out very well.
Stefan's city, Bricksonville, looks great by day. But it really comes alive at night because it is fully illuminated which makes the buildings look really fantastic. There's also plenty of movement with trains, monorail and fairground rides, so his city is a real feast for the eyes, whichever way you look!
Dr McBrick's channel features livestreams, MOCs and tours of his rapidly-growing city, Figsdale. At first, it might look like an ordinary sort of town, with shops, a school, restaurants and a gas station. But it's so much more than that thanks to the wonderful stories he tells and the sometimes hilarious placement of minifigs by his two kids, Adrian and Piper! There's always something new to see in town.
Greg from GBricks lives on an island. It's not Holy Island that you see here, but Australia! Despite his geographical remoteness, Greg still manages to stay in touch with the wonderful global LEGO community and regularly hosts live stream to build sets, as well as giving us tours of his own city, Studsburg.
This Micropolis block, the Downtown Mall, manages to cram many models into a small area, with loads of variety of style, colour and size. This is exactly the philosophy held by JC of Small Brick City, whose channel showcases many of his brillant MOCs, tutorials and advice on how to maximize the potential of any small space we have for a LEGO city!
My own channel hosts an ecelctic mix of LEGO videos. It is dominated by my ever-growing microscale city, Micropolis, but also includes updates from my minifig-scale town, Blockville and its new Ninjago District. These sit comfortably side by side with Great Ball Contraption models and MOCs influenced by Classic Space and other Science Fiction themes.
As you can see, these BrickTubers are diverse in interest and channel presentation, but we are all united by our love for the LEGO brick. It's great that we can use LEGO to express our individuality, while still appreciating the different styles and themes we each enjoy.
And like the Micropolis blocks I have shown to accompany each channel's intro, they look nice individually, but put them all together and it makes something even bigger and better. Much like the BrickTubers Network itself!
Please visit and subscribe to the channels I have showcased here, I am sure you will enjoy them. There are links to each one in the description of this video.
And if you can, please join us for the first BrickTubers Network Live Stream hosted by GJBricks on 20th April at 11pm Sydney time (2pm BST, 3pm in Europe).
