Welcome to Shakespeare Where you Park Yourself- because, even though we couldn't hold Shakespeare in the Park this year, the show must go on!
I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate everything these actors did to translate this beautiful show over Zoom; they are incredible. This all-star cast of returning Foothill Theater Company actors deserve more praise than I could properly articulate for volunteering their time and energy over the course of a just a few weeks (in the midst of a global pandemic)! They gave so much of their time and energy to workshop how to translate this classic Shakespearean comedy into a new - entirely socially distant- medium so that the show could go on for our community.
On a personal note, Much Ado About Nothing has been my favorite since I first saw it when I was 5 years old. I begged my parents not to take me home at intermission for my bedtime because I wanted to know if things were going to “end happy ever after”. It’s got absolutely everything great about Shakespearean rom coms- a masked ball, mistaken identities, incredibly strong and funny women, dramatic heartbreak and reconciliation, unbridled joy, and *spoiler alert* a big wedding at the end. Not to mention some of the most modern sounding comprehensible language in all of Shakespeare’s cannon. You can look up the plot synopsis if you like, but I encourage you give it a go first.
No matter where you Park yourself to enjoy this free digital production, I hope you have as much fun watching as we did making it! And, we would like to give a big thank you to the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) for supporting Foothills Theatre Company! #thanksSCFD
