"일군, 위안부 발리에 데려가" 공문서…강제동원 명확한 증거
Documents providing evidence of the Japanese military's forced recruitment of women as sex slaves before and during World War II have been revealed.
According to Tokyo-based Kyodo News Agency on Monday, the National Archives of Japan and the Ministry of Justice submitted 19 official documents related to the issue to Japan's Cabinet in February.
One of the records provides testimony of a then-general saying that he took around 200 women to Indonesia to serve as sex slaves for Japanese troops.
Another record includes accounts of the women being violently threatened and forced.
Japanese civic groups say the documents provide more clear evidence, …but Tokyo maintains the documents do not show the women were forcibly mobilized.
