Pls read the description if you want to know what this meme is about
Firstly, I do not claim any of these characters as my own, all belong to Tui's Wings of fire series. The songs used in this video is Killer in the mirror By Set it off(I used a day core version, also the song at the end is From a cage by Envoi
We don't know much about Deathbringer, he doesn't really have a significant character development, and probably the only background story we got from Tui about him is from Winglets Assasin. This animation meme is very fast-paced, and I get its kind of confusing to comprehend, so, here is the explanation aka my theory towards what's going on inside Deathbringer's mind:
Deathbringer has been following orders for almost his entire life, when he was little, he was told what to do by his mother, Quickstrike, who personally trained him to be a successful Nightwing assassin just like herself. In the animation meme, I added the bit at the beginning of Assasins where Morrowseer said that Deathbringer must either kill Vengence or Slaughter in order to prove that he is strong enough to go on the mission with Quickstrike, and that's what Deathbringer did. Then the animation meme also showed the part where Quickstrike was hit by lightning and the assassination of Commander Tempest, the Seawing general. There is something that both of these assassinations have in common, and that is there's someone responsible of telling Deathbringer who to kill, and Deathbringer always completes the mission without hesitation. Then there is the escaping volcano in book 4, we all know that if it's not because of Glory, Deathbringer wouldn't make it out alive, and this sorta emphasized the importance of their relationship to Deathbringer, and the importance of their relationship is what stopped Deathbring from assassinating Glory and her friends in the first place. This proves that Deathbringer is not what the Nightwings considered as their 'killing machine', he has his own mind, he knows Glory is someone special. His assassinations during Assasin is because he was still a young dragonet, and only did what he did because he was told to and didnt consider the concequences. I sort of made up the story a bit for the rest of the animation meme to show what's going on inside Deathbringer's mind as well. Deathbringer didnt actually throw disks at Winter in Winter turning thanks to Glory, but what if he did...
Despite he is no longer an assassin, he felt guilty, he felt sorry for all the innocent dragons he killed in the past, even it benefited his tribe, he knows that an assassin should barely feel guilty about the ones who died under his talons, but as time pass, the more he distances himself from his past career, the more the guilt seems to haunt him. He spared Glory, so he could've equally spared the others, why didn't he?
Is it always for the sake of his tribe? Despite the fact that they still ended up not achieving their life long dreams?
What's the purpose to kill these dragons in the first place.
They'd be better off somewhere else...
Then Deathbringer went into his own mind, where he became a dragonet again. He saw his mother, so he rushed up to him. But in a split second, she vanished, and Deathbringer found himself facing a brick wall with no end, all the arrows of the danger warning signs on the wall are pointing at him.
'Stay away from the Killer´
'Murderous dragonet'
'Harderdous to heath, keep away'
then Deathbringer saw the line of words on the way:
'You are what you see'
He then blacked out, turns out everything was just a dream.
But this guilt inside isn't, it's still there, and there will it be for a while.
He never told Glory any of these, he's afraid that Glory will think badly of him, despite knowing already that he was an assassin.
He can never tell her.
But he has to.
Don't be your own Killer in the mirror, the more you mourn on the past, the more you miss out on the present.
