Muslims across much of the Middle East, Russia and western countries began their Eid celebrations Tuesday following the sighting of a new moon, though many will wait until Wednesday. Huge crowds gathered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (main), Moscow (top left) and Kuwait City (top right) on Tuesday morning for prayers and an obligatory donation to charity before the festivities began. Celebrations may last for up to three days when Muslims will break their Ramadan fast by feasting, as well as spending time with their friends and families.
