This is an audio test of the Tascam dr-10sg and the Røde Videomic side by side. I've had a lot of joy using the Røde, but it's getting old a worn down.
I was actually surprised how the Videomic holds up still, being such an old microphone! Honestly, one of my favorites was the Røde going straight into the camera. I don't know what happened to the noise when it was plugged to the Zoom H1, but it's fixable, and then it's pretty similar to the H4n.
My other favorites were the recordings of the Tascam recording by itself. The H1 and H4n results were pretty similar in my ears. Pretty useful when booming up the mic.
You can also tell there's quite a bit of noise from the Tascam recording, which was quite disappointing. Note that this was a test five minutes after opening the box. After further testing, I will see if I can get around that. However, the feature that you have a recorder on the mic itself is genius. So from now on, it will be my main mic.
Also, I really like the shock-mount on the Tascam. All in all, a great mic for the price!
