A radio station personality was arrested in Big Spring on Tuesday morning for soliciting a minor.
"Last Friday, February 3, we got information that their was a possible online solicitation of a minor," Howard County Sheriff, Stan Parker, said.
The Howard County Sheriffs Office began investigating this case after they were contacted by the 16-year-old girl's guardian.
"We discovered that Kyle Guthrie made contact with a minor in a sexually explicit way by using electronic media," Parker said.
If that name sounds familiar, that's because Kyle Guthrie was the news and weather director at KBST in Big Spring.
On Monday night, the Howard County Sheriffs office obtained a warrant. With the help of Homeland Security, they seized several electronic devices from Guthrie's home. Everything has been sent for forensic analysis. Guthrie is being charged with online solicitation of a minor. Authorities believe there may be other victims involved.
"When we have a situation like this, you always kind of wonder are there other victims? As of right now, no one else has come forward but we are prepared for that in case there are," Parker said.
The radio station manager did tell NewsWest 9 Guthrie was terminated. Listeners in Big Spring were stunned when they heard the news.
"It's shocking and it's sad. The times we are living in right now," Big Spring Resident, Milton Perkins, said.
"It hardly ever happens in a town like this, when it does, I want it (them) to be punished," Big Spring Resident, Toni DeHoyos, said.
"I think that such behavior is shameful and reprehensible for anyone even if he wasn't a public figure. If he is found guilty, I believe he should be punished to the full extent of the law," Big Spring Resident, Ron Porter, said.
"From what I understand it's not something that pops up overnight. It's probably something that is a problem for your whole life," Big Spring Resident, Tray Tipton, said.
No matter who the person is in the community, the Sheriff says they always take these accusations like this very seriously.
"You have to take these things very seriously because it's a problem and you are dealing with children," Parker said.
The Sheriffs Office is continuing this investigation.
Guthrie's bond has been set at $20,000. Guthrie remains behind bars in the Howard County Jail.
