An ideal storage solution for cookware should be convenient and compact while keeping pots and pans as close to the cooking area as possible.
Pull-out storage drawers located beneath or near the cooktop are one good answer.
Another clever solution comes from an inventor and entrepreneur I met at the International Builders’ Show – and it may be one of the best I’ve seen.
It’s a glide-out hanging rack that mounts inside just about any kitchen base cabinet wide enough to accommodate the cookware. For larger cabinets, two of the units can be installed side by side.
What I particularly like about this system is that it eliminates the need for stacking – good for protecting non-stick surfaces and great for getting the right pot or pan without having to dig it out from the bottom of pile.
Hanging rack with brooms and mops that glides in and outThe unit features high quality hardware and solid maple components that are clearly made to last. It’s a bit pricey, but considering how many times a day our cookware goes in and out of drawers and cabinet, it could well be worthwhile investment. It can also convenient, compact storage for brooms, mops and other long-handled cleaning tools.
Jenny Hall, the inventor and marketer behind the product, called Glideware, is inspiring proof that the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well and that good ideas get noticed even at enormous events like the builders’ show.
