President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris joined a nation in mourning Monday evening, honoring the more than 500,000 American who have died from COVID-19.
With their spouses, they paused for a moment of silence outside the White House, where 500 candles lit the steps.
Amazing Grace played as they stood and paid tribute to the lives lost.
The president has also ordered flags to be flown at half-staff to honor the dead.
