A comprehensive(ish) list of the magical swords, spears, shields, staffs, and slingshots wielded by the gods, heroes, and monsters of Irish mythology.
Irish mythology, the most well-preserved form of Celtic mythology, is brimming with enchanted weapons akin to Thor’s hammer Mjölnir and King Arthur’s Excalibur. (Indeed, the latter was likely inspired by an enchanted sword from Irish mythology.)
Take a peek inside Ireland’s mythological arsenal and discover the origins of 20 such weapons—some of which can fly, some of which can talk, and one that needs to be stored in a vat of a venom when not in use lest it explode. Neat!
