Palpatine's Lightsaber from the prequel era truly is one of the most elegant and beautiful sabers in all of Star Wars. As we've discussed before, this beauty was deliberate. He wished to have the finest looking lightsaber of all time to demonstrate his superiority over the Jedi. He even used sacred electrum plating, a metal only gifted to the finest of Jedi masters like Mace Windu. This was all despite the fact he hates lightsaber duelling and considered the force a more powerful ally. However, Vader was less than impressed when he was forced to use one of Palpatine's Lightsabers. He found its shape unergonomic and came to believe the saber was more like a piece of jewellery than a saber made for heavy duelling.
