Please see photo credits below. Beautiful building right on the road side but easily overlooked. Not sure if it's still being used (lower floors / rear?) but from the front I'd guess it was pretty run-down inside. The foundation stone was laid on March 21st 1905 by 'G.A Thompson ESQ. J.P.'; I'd love to know who he/she was so I could add a bit more detail to this description (possibly a local councillor). I can't really make out much on the other inscription due to an ill-placed drain pipe, but it's something about 'Members of Council'. I love everything about this building, it's simple but elegant and it's probably one of my favourites out of all I've filmed, it's interesting to see that two extra windows were added to the top floor at some point. Also, that top right-hand window looks fantastic with its smashed glass and draped net curtain; it looks like a haunted room from Scooby-doo! ;-)
Original photos are scanned postcard from Andrew's Mexborough page ([ Ссылка ]) please see his site for loads of great images. I've tried seeking permission for this image but no luck yet, Hopefully Andrew will be in touch soon.
