Background:
Well, a Hunter needs to hunt. So, for those who don't know, Bloodborne was my introduction to From Software's lovely catalog. This channel, as it exists as largely a bastion of Elden Ring build showcases, would not be without this game. So, I'll be putting out a few long forms to honor this game. So, after 1,200 hours of Elden Ring and 2 years since last playing Bloodborne, the hunt begins.
For this Build: This build is a Skill dominant build centered around both the Saw Spear and Visceral Attacks to unleash devastating damage upon enemies. The Saw Spear is what I consider to be the superior version of the Saw Cleaver. Even though the Cleaver has higher base damage, the Spear having serrated damage in both transformed and untransformed modes make it a cut above the Cleaver, plus the Saw Spear is mainly a Skill weapon. So, something of an intro to Bloodborne mechanics 101: Visceral attack damage scales primarily with Skill (Dexterity) and can be amped further by things like the Clawmark runes and is affected by attack buffs like Beast Blood Pellets. In other words, the Saw Spear's inherent scaling benefits Visceral attack damage as well. Because it has very fast transform attacks, it can ramp up the attack buff provided by Beast Blood Pellets very quickly. So the strategy is quite simple on all bosses. Using a flurry of light attacks into transform attacks, quickly build up Beasthood, exponentially increasing your damage output. From there, land Visceral attacks when possibly either through limb breaking, parrying or backstabs from charged heavy attacks.
Blood Gems: To be honest, any high tier Cursed Tempering Blood Gems will do, however, one thing is very necessary: in order to get the most out of a physical attack Saw Spear, you will need the Uncanny Saw Spear found in the Chalice Dungeons to get two radials imprints and a triangle imprint as to be able to get the highest possible Blood Gems. The gems I run are two +25.3% gems and one 24.4% gems, which can be farmed pretty quickly in the Chalice Dungeons. Ideally, you would want all WPN durabilty down gems because that curse DOESN'T stack unlike the Beast Attack Down, Kin Attack Down and Stamina Cost Up Curses.
Stats (BL120):
Vitality: 50
Endurance: 30
Strength: 25
Skill: 50
Bloodtinge and Arcane do not matter for this build.
Runes: My Caryll Rune Set-up is either all 3 Clawmarks (10%, 20% and 30% Visercal Attack up) or 2 Clawmarks (20% and 30%) and 1 Anti-Clockwise Metamorphosis (increases amount of Stamina). I also run the Hunter rune for increased stamina regen.
Consumables: The Beast Blood Pellet is essential for how this build works. For Elden Ring players, think of it like a successive hit buff but with the effects of a Scorpion Charm Talisman. In other words, as your damage increases with successive hits, your physical damage negation decreases in equal measure, however this is well worth the cost. For example, with my Blood Gem Set-Up, my Uncanny Saw Spear has a base Attack Rating (AR) of 595. When fully buffed by the Beastblood Pellet, the Uncanny Saw Spear will reach an AR of 1092, 83% stronger than base.
Additionally, Fire and Bolt Paper are used to further amp damage.
Drip: The Hunter's Set.
Player's Note: Since this is my first Bloodborne longform, I actively chose to not include bosses I don't particularly like fighting against or fights that are not interesting to watch. or if their name is "Laurence, the First Vicar"
Fights I don't like: Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos, Amygdala
Fights I feel wouldn't be interesting to watch: Celestrial Emissary, Witches of Hemwick, Micolash
I CAN be persuaded into fighting Laurence for future runs, but you better roll at least a d18 to make the Charisma Check.
