Follow 20 students' from nine Wisconsin high schools as they work together as part of a prestigious Jazz ensemble at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Once a year, Director of Jazz Studies at UW-Madison Johannes Wallmann and Assistant Director Eric Siereveld hold auditions for high school students from south central Wisconsin to participate in a prestigious honors jazz band. Some students are seasoned participants, while others are auditioning for the first time, but they all have practiced for months for the chance to be a part of the unique and prestigious ensemble. Auditions are high pressure, nerve-wracking and rarely ever easy experiences. Watch and learn from the perspective of the students and judges what makes a good audition. New videos from Wisconsin Public Television's Making Jazz web series will be released each Monday through Feb. 6.
