Details:
1. Indians are not allowed to travel to islands where the local population lives eg Male city hotels, Hulmale Island hotels, Maafushi island hotels, etc Fihalhohi resort has temporarily banned Indian tourists until further notice. Stay on the Local island is not permitted. There is a total ban on visiting Greater Male.
2.Travelers will soon have to pay a new departure tax to leave the Maldives. Starting January 1, 2022
Economy: $12 (Maldivians) or $30 (foreign travelers)
Business: $60 (everyone)
First: $90 (everyone)
Charters: $120 (everyone)
3. Passenger Obligation
All tourists must have a confirmed hotel reservation for their entire stay in one hotel (no change of address allowed). The proof will need to be submitted at immigration.
Passengers must complete and submit a Traveller Health Declaration 24 hours.
It is advisable to download the Maldives contact tracing app 'TraceEkee' before traveling to the Maldives.
4. Mandatory Quarantine & Testing Rules
For Flights from India to the Maldives: Passengers must undergo a COVID-19 RT-PCR test. Sample must be taken 96 hours before departure for the Maldives.
For Flights from the Maldives to India: Passengers must carry a negative RTPCR test conducted 72 hours before boarding. Tourists can contact their hotels in the Maldives to book the self-paid RT-PCR test. Once they receive their negative test result, it will have to be uploaded on the Air Suvidha portal.
As per the guidelines, get your test done at the resorts only. Arriving in India before exiting the airport does not seem an option here. They might stop you at the immigration at the Maldives
airport if you do not have the PCR test and uploaded. Moreover, You have to submit your
health declaration 24 hours before you arrive in India along with the PCR report.
All passengers and airline crew will be subject to medical screening.
The quarantine period is for 14 days.
There may be random PCR test checks at the airport but these will be voluntary and the cost of testing will be borne by the Maldives government.
Short-term visitors traveling on Business visa/ sponsorship approval must also have the RT-PCR negative report d no more than 72 hours before departure.
