Earlier this summer the DfE issued a first draft of the proposed revisions to the Early Learning Goals (ELGs) and Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP), both of which are currently being piloted in 25 schools in England. A full consultation will take place at the end of the 2019 academic year and the DfE have said that they will work closely with the sector to gain feedback. Experts have already expressed concerns that the revised ELGs are inappropriate, and that the emphasis on a more formal approach to teaching and learning is a at odds with the essence of the current EYFS.
In this important webinar, the Alliance's Director of Quality Improvement Michael Freeston, and Quality and Standards Manager Melanie Pilcher, discuss these proposals, and the implications for early years providers who remain committed to providing quality teaching and learning that is responsive to the needs of the unique child.
This webinar originally aired 19.09.2018
