For how easy this one looks on the sheet, it's so tough! To play it well, with proper musicality, is much harder than many pieces which are more advanced on a technical level. You have nowhere to hide, every inconsistency in phrasing or tone production is heard (by the observant listener).
I opted for playing it as light as I could, with which I'm happy. The phrasing I'm reasonably happy with, though I did mess that up two or three times. I hope it's not too apparent.
All in all, these Children's Pieces by Satie are real gems. They've taught me so much about playing with musicality. I'm sure I'll someday make a proper recording of the whole set, but I don't think I'll be able to do them any justice within the next few years.
