In September of 2020, we took a Tennessee State Park Road Trip with Kay's sister, Lori! We had 4 days to visit 3 state parks in East Tennessee. Please subscribe to our channel if you enjoy exploring our parks and public lands!
0:00 - Introduction
0:12 - Norris State Park
We made our home base a standard cabin at Norris Dam State Park. We had a 3 bedroom and one bath cabin with a kitchen. It had everything that we needed. There are CCC Cabins as well as 2 campgrounds available! If you are interested in a tour of any of that, we have a video to show you what it looked like! Please see that here: [ Ссылка ]
Norris Dam State Park has 15 trails. The longest being 5 miles long. We linked several together on our trip. The quietest hike was the Marine Railway Trail. We were visiting mid-week, so that made social distancing easier. While we were in the park, we visited the Rice Grist Mill, the Cosby Threshing Barn and the Lenoir Museum.
8:16 - Big Ridge State Park
We hiked at Big Ridge State Park as well. This was our longest hike of the trip. With this one, we linked trails together to make a longer hike. We started on the Lakeside Trail and connected to the Ghost House Trail. In the middle, we found the Big Ridge Dam that was built by the CCC in the 1930's. We also visited two historic cemeteries. There are a few paranormal claims in this park, but we had no experiences. Before we left the park, we wanted to see the Norton Mill. These were rainy hikes, but still really great trails.
10:51 - Owl Hooting at night
11:23 - Cove Lake State Park
Our final stop was at Cove Lake State Park. It finally stopped raining for Saturday and that made the park more crowded than we would have liked. We enjoyed the "city park" like feel of Cove Lake. There is a huge picnic area right next to the lake. We took the Observation Deck trail. The deck was being used by fisherman, so we didn't disturb them.
