Philosophical conversation with an AGP philosopher part 1: detransition, sexuality & consciousness.
In this week's episode my guest is @RayAlexWilliams, a detransitioner, an open autogynephile and an independent philosopher. This is the fist part of our conversation.
In this video me and Ray Alex Williams discuss the reasons people are detransitioning, the research done on the subject of detransition by Kinnon MacKinnon, whether we are seeing a detrans social contagion similar to what is often discussed and sometimes referred to as trans social contagion.
We are also discussing the nature of sexuality and nuances of sexuality. Is sexuality set in stone? Is homosexuality hereditary? If so, how did homosexuality survived considering it is less likely to lead to reproduction.
We talk about the nature of consciousness, the concept of qualia and a popular debate within the world of philosophy of mind: the conflict between the physicalism and dualism. We explore concepts such as qualia, panpsychisims, substance monism, substance dualism and property dualism and discuss philosophers such as David Chalmers, Baruch Spinoza, Plato, Bernardo Kastrup, Descartes & Nietzsche as well as the hindu philosophy called Vedanta.
Finally, we are also discussing the issues with contemporary philosophy, contemporary academia and academic papers.
I am a male detransitioner and an independent philosopher. Last year i made a video called "My detransition story: the dark truth behind gender dysphoria and transition regret" which went viral. Since then i have continued making videos on the subject of detransition and genderas well as various other subjects including philosophy, politics, social issues and mental health. I have callaborated with others, including Ritchie Herron and Buck Angel. I have also appeared in the documentary "Lost Boys: Searching for Manhood" alongside Ritchie Herron. The film focused on detransitioned males and was directed by Jennifer Lahl.
