I have written a PDF book telling the story of how I got into hand-feeding birds and the experiences along the way. If you want to purchase that PDF booklet it is 10 USD and can be purchased at this link:

This was a rare moment. An American Goldfinch sat on my hand for a total of ten minutes. Notice how it is dominant as the chickadees and red-breasted nuthatches can't get it to move at all. It asserts dominance by standing ground and not flinching. You can hear the bird say "thank you" at 10:49. It landed on my hand for around 5 minutes each time and took a 2 minute break in between eating sessions. At times, it looks like the chickadees are trying to fly in and knock the goldfinch off of their usual feeding platform. This may be because posturing does not scare the goldfinch away so they resort to other means of attempting to get it to move.
This video records the first two moments in landed on my hand. I went out later that day and it sat on my hand for about 25 minutes straight.
