JEPI vs JEPQ - Which High-Yield ETF Is Better? (Which ETF Is Best To Invest In?). In this comparison video I will talk about JEPI vs JEPQ.
So, the main difference between them is their diversification.
Compared to JEPQ, JEPI has a substantially more significant percentage of mid-cap equities. The latter is heavily overweight in technology and communication services and has relatively low allocations to materials, finances, real estate, utilities, and energy. This is caused mainly by the index focused on, with JEPI selecting stocks from the S&P 500 and JEPQ from the Nasdaq 100.
JEPI is, therefore, diversified, making it involved in different sectors.
Volatility.
JPMorgan Equity Premium Income ETF is currently 1.79% volatile, but JPMorgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Income ETF is 2.19% volatile. According to this indicator, JEPI is seen as less risky than JEPQ and has less price swings.
JEPI is, therefore, more of a secure exchange-traded fund.
Dividend yield.
The revenue from JEPQ's covered call overlays, as supplied by the ELNs, has historically been higher than JEPI and continues to remain so due to the Nasdaq 100's greater volatility. For example, the 30-day SEC yield on JEPI is currently 8.48%, while the 12-month rolling dividend yield is 11.04%. JEPQ's yields are 10.75% and 12.86%, respectively.
JEPQ, therefore, has a high yield if you are looking for high returns.
But do they have any similarities?
Yes! Both JEPI and JEPQ have an expense ratio of 0.35% currently. They are also high-income yields. Compared to their respective benchmarks, both funds' investments in covered call equity ladder notes lower prospective and actual capital gains. The covered call strategy or ELNs are both funds' primary sources of dividends. Many elements affect the revenue from the mentioned approach, but the two most important ones are assets per share and implied equity volatility.
To sum up, which is better – JEPI or JEPQ?
What I like the most about JEPQ is how its volatility can contribute to high returns. Since its launch, JEPQ has outperformed the S&P 500, which is exceptional for an income product. On the other hand, JEPI, although not having as high returns as JEPQ, has proved to be more stable and consistent, thus giving a sense of security. But though I like both, I choose JEPI as the overall winner due to its stability over JEPQ.
