So many people have asked me how they can improve their squat and what a proper squat technique/form is.
I am fortunate that I grew up in Japan and have practiced martial arts and I have moved to the States in late 90s so I have had the opportunity to observe how our lifestyle and culture influence how we move.
I can say one thing for certain that is, most of us, regardless of where we were born, learned to squat in the first 1-2 years of life. How did we learn to squat in the first place? We had to learn how to roll, sit, and squat and stand, not the other way around. But, why do so many people practice squat from standing?
If they're struggling to squat, they probably have developed inefficient movement patterns at some point. Repeating the same inefficient movement patterns can only reinforce those patterns. This is why many struggle to improve their squat.
So what should you do to improve your squat? You'll need to relearn fundamental movement patterns and learn to squat just like you did for the first time. By the end of this video you will learn how to improve your Asian squat also known as Primal squat using 3 primal movement exercises.
