I'm a big fan of models (of all kinds, lol). But the problem with models is that they aren't actually reality. The map is not the territory, and the menu is not the meal. Each situation needs to be considered on its own merits. In particular, the problems I have with the SMV model (as typically used) are mainly the fact that it objectifies women, and the fact it's generally used in a negative way (an excuse to decrease human connection) rather than a positive one.
