Prince Charles Edward, Queen Victoria's youngest grandson, was born into the British royal family in 1884. Despite his close ties to the British monarchy, he was sent to Germany by Queen Victoria, where he became the last sovereign Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. It was here that he was influenced by extreme right-wing politics and eventually became a staunch ally of Hitler. Charles Edward's association with the Nazis included serving as the president of the Anglo-German Fellowship as well as the German Red Cross, an organisation which had been hijacked by Hitler in order for him to put his barbaric T4 extermination program in place, killing thousands of disabled people.
