STORYLINE
Residents of a five-storey building in Beirut's Ashrafieh district were trapped under the rubble after it collapsed on Sunday, rescuers said.
Red Cross workers and soldiers from the Lebanese Army arrived at the scene to help rescue residents remove rubble and hunt for survivors.
Sniffer dogs were brought in to locate people trapped in the rubble.
Two women and a man were taken to a hospital nearby after being pulled from the rubble.
The cause of the collapse is unknown, but some residents blamed the age of the building.
