The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring two areas of potential tropical development.
The disturbance with the most concern is off the coast of Africa a few hundred miles south-southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands. The NHC designated it as Invest 92-L Thursday morning.
By early next week, a tropical depression or tropical storm could develop over the tropical eastern Atlantic as the system moves westward to west-northwestward at 23 mph.
Friday morning, the NHC dropped the storm's odds of developing into a tropical depression or storm to 60-percent over the next five days.
The storm's odds of developing within the next 48 hours have also decreased to 30-percent.
The second disturbance, a tropical wave located over the central tropical Atlantic, is producing a broad area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
Environmental conditions are expected to be marginally conducive for some slow development east of the Lesser Antilles by Sunday and into early next week while the disturbance moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph.
At this point, the NHC forecasts only a 20-percent chance of development in the next five days.
