Suppose you have a project that has several 100 bars of music. You decided that you would like to insert 4 bars at measure 9. How would you do that?
One way is to cut all of the tracks at measure 9, then lasso all of the events to the right and drag them to measure 13. That is possible, but tedious.
A faster way is to use the feature of adding silence for a specified range. It works like this …
In the project window, make sure you have snap turned on (shortcut is ‘J’), and set Grid Type to ‘bar’. Then on the first track, place your mouse cursor on measure 9, right click and choose the Range icon. Drag the range to the right 4 bars, and down to the end of the project. You have now selected a 4 bar range for all of the tracks.
Now, go up to the ‘Edit’ menu item, and choose ‘Range’ – ‘Insert Silence’. All of the tracks should now be shifted right for 4 bars.
