The Hall of Opium Museum is located in the heart of the infamous Golden Triangle in the Chiang Saen district of Chiang Rai. Home to a collection of antiques and archeological objects tracing the opium trade within the Golden Triangle area.
The name "Golden Triangle" was coined by the CIA and is commonly used to refer to an area of approximately 367,000 sq mi that overlaps the mountains of the three adjacent countries, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar along the Mekong River.
