One of the model's rarest modern variants, the Omega Speedmaster "Tintin" has quite the unusual backstory. Envisioned as a limited edition piece that paired the iconic Omega model with the popular comic book character Tintin (who famously travelled to the moon in a red and white rocket in 1950's "Destination Moon"), the partnership unfortunately just wasn't meant to be.
Instead of giving up when the family of Belgian cartoonist Hergé refused to license the project, Omega pushed forward and released the watch anyways without any of the planned Tintin connections. The model has gained something of a cult following in the years since its release, and, official Tintin connection or not, the nickname has stuck!
