Kevin Costner Breaks Silence On Rumors He And Jewel Are Dating
Kevin Costner maintains that he and Jewel are not dating, despite months of public conjecture on the nature of their relationship.
During his Tuesday appearance on "The Howard Stern Show," Costner said that he and Jewel had had "tremendous conversations" recently, but he made it clear that they had never actually gone out.
The "Yellowstone" star clarified, "We have a friendship, we don't have a romance, and we haven't dated." She is intelligent and attractive enough for all of those things. Simply said, it has never occurred to us.
He said, "She's special, and I don't want these rumors to ruin our friendship, because that's what we have," at another point in the conversation.
Jewel and Costner first became romantically associated in December after pictures of them cuddling in the British Virgin Islands were released by TMZ.
People at the time said that there was "a very big attraction on both sides" and that the partnership was "new but not brand new."
The reports appeared well timed, considering that Costner had separated a few months before from his 19-year wife, Christine Baumgartner. The divorce between the ex-couple was formalized in February.
When discussing Costner with Elle in April, Jewel remained reticent.
The four-time Grammy nominee praised him as a wonderful person while acknowledging that "the public fascination is intense for sure."
During his conversation with Stern, Costner revealed that a few of his seven children had started to accept some statements made about their father's romantic involvement with Jewel.
He chuckled, "I have to explain to my kids, 'No.'"
Costner, who won an Oscar for "Dances with Wolves" in the 1990s, is presently promoting "Horizon: An American Saga," a film in which he also served as director and writer. Next week, the movie opens in theaters.
