The song, written in the early years of Frank Sinatra's career, describes the "infatuation and inconvenience of love at first sight". Before the chorus, Sinatra states how one becomes suddenly attracted to a person, singing, "Your stare was holdin', jeans ripped, skin was showing / Hot night, wind was blowin' / Where you think you're going, baby?" As the chorus begins, Sinatra explains that his feelings for the boy are unexpected: "Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so, call me, maybe."
