The Battle for South Mountain was fought on September 14, 1862, near Boonsboro, Maryland. It was an incredibly bloody battle, with the 50th and 51st Georgia being cut down by over 70%; Philip's Georgia Legion suffered over 40% casualties in 20 minutes.

I have used the exact amount of troop numbers as were present on the day - additionally, the Confederate positions/composition of troops are as accurate as gameplay will allow.
